Suffolk House Martin Survey – House Martin Support Suffolk

In 2024, the Suffolk Bird Group (SBG) launched an exciting new initiative: House Martin Support Suffolk (HMSS). The project kicked off with a survey, asking our members to share their observations of breeding House Martins, and we've already received some fantastic responses!

Now, with a bit of help from SBIS, we're ready to broaden our horizons and collect data from across the entire county. Why is this so important? Well, sadly, House Martin numbers have been on the decline for a while now, particularly here in the south and east of Britain. This worrying trend led to them being added to the UK Red List in 2020.

By participating in the survey, you'll help us gain a clearer picture of the current House Martin population right here in Suffolk. Your contributions are vital in understanding how these wonderful birds are faring.
