Hedgerows – PDF Maps

GIS polygons of tree canopies were created by Norfolk County Council’s GIS team from the Environment Agency’s Lidar data – see here for more information and an interactive map. SBIS has used these to create GIS datasets of tree canopy cover and hedgerow quality by Parish.

For hedgerow quality, agricultural field boundaries were overlain with the tree polygons and statistics such as gappiness, average height and volume were attached. County and Parish maps have been made showing these.

County-level thematic maps of Parishes

Tree canopy cover

  1. Lidar-derived tree canopy cover by Parish - % land area
  2. Lidar-derived tree canopy cover by Parish - % land area woodland broadleaf trees
  3. Lidar-derived tree canopy cover by Parish - % land area woodland conifer trees
  4. Lidar-derived tree canopy cover by Parish - % land area non-woodland trees
  5. Lidar-derived tree canopy cover by Parish - % land area scrub trees

Hedgerow quality

  1. Suffolk field boundaries by Parish - % land area which is hedge tree canopy
  2. Suffolk field boundaries by Parish - % non-woodland tree canopy which is hedge trees
  3. Suffolk field boundaries by Parish - % total boundary length which is gap
  4. Suffolk field boundaries by Parish - % total boundary length which is treed
  5. Suffolk field boundaries by Parish - % tree canopy which is hedge trees
  6. Suffolk field boundaries by Parish - density of field boundaries
  7. Suffolk field boundaries by Parish - mean % boundary which is gap

Individual Parish maps

Parish maps are being added here as they are created. Each parish has a set of five maps:

  1. Parish field boundaries - % length with trees
  2. Parish field boundaries - mean tree height
  3. Parish field boundaries - tree and gap sections
  4. Parish field boundaries - tree volume per metre
  5. Parish field boundaries - variation in tree height

Use the search function below to quickly find the parish(es) you are interested in, and then click the image(s) to download them. If your parish is not yet available please contact Hannah Alred to request the maps.
